Veneto

The Veneto ships more wine than any other Italian region, which has done its reputation no favors. Look past the volume and there is Amarone — grapes dried on racks until January, then fermented dry — and Soave from volcanic soil in Classico, which has nothing in common with the cheap stuff of the 1980s.
