Above Wines LLC · Irving, Texas
Preserving Italy in Every Pour
Who we are
An importer, a shop, and a fairly specific opinion about Italian wine.
Above Wines imports indigenous Italian wines — the grapes that never travelled, from the families who never stopped growing them. We buy direct, we bring in what we would drink ourselves, and we sell it out of Grappolo Wine Shop in Irving, to restaurants across DFW, and to anyone in Texas who wants a case delivered.
Most of our book comes from the south — Calabria first, then Sicilia, Campania, Puglia. These are the regions that spent a century shipping bulk wine north to be blended into someone else’s label. The growers who resisted that are the ones we work with.
We are not trying to be a big importer. We are trying to be the one that a Calabrian grower with four hectares can actually reach.

“We do not import wine that tastes like it could have come from anywhere. If it does not taste like the place it is from, we do not buy it.”
