Where we can send wine — Texas and California

Wine is licensed state by state. Above Wines can ship to addresses in Texas and California and nowhere else, so if you are outside those states we cannot deliver to you today, however the order is placed. That is a licensing limit rather than a preference, and the list grows as permits are added — when it does, this page is where it changes. We do not ship internationally, and we cannot ship to a PO box, because an adult has to sign.

What it costs

Three ways to get the wine, priced the same way in the cart and at the register:

  • Shipping — free on orders over $199, otherwise a flat $14.95 however many bottles are in the box.
  • Local delivery from Irving — $12.95.
  • Pickup at the Irving shop — free.
  • Delivery to an approved wholesale account — no delivery charge.

How fast

Ships within 24–48 hours of the order being placed. That is the hand-off to the carrier, not the doorstep: transit adds its own days, and a case takes the same time as a bottle. We email you when the order moves, and the order page linked from your confirmation shows where it has got to.

Somebody 21 or older has to sign

Every shipment of wine needs an adult signature on delivery, and the carrier will check identification. Nobody can sign on your behalf, a note on the door will not do, and a package nobody signs for comes back to us. If you will not be in, send it somewhere you will be — a workplace is usually easier than a house.

Heat, cold and holding a shipment

Wine is ruined by extreme heat and by freezing, and a box that sits in a hot truck can arrive cooked. [ALDO: do you want us to hold shipments in extreme weather and email the customer, or ship anyway on request? If we hold, who carries the risk when a customer asks us to send it regardless?]

Local delivery from Irving

We deliver locally from the Irving shop for the fee above, on the same adult-signature terms as a carrier shipment. [ALDO: how far does local delivery reach — a mileage radius, a list of cities, or a list of ZIP codes? And is there a minimum order for it?]

Pickup at the shop

Choose pickup at checkout and there is nothing to pay for delivery. We email you the moment it is ready to collect, and you bring photo identification. [ALDO: how long do we hold a pickup order before the bottles go back on the shelf — 7 days, 14 days, 30 days?] Our address is 1915 Peters Rd Ste 206, Irving, TX 75061; call (469) 517-7442 if you need us to hold it longer.

When something goes wrong in transit

A bottle that arrives broken, or a package that never arrives, is ours to put right — our Returns policy has the detail, and the sooner you tell us at info@abovewines.com or (469) 517-7442 the easier the carrier claim is. If a shipment is refused at the door or comes back undeliverable, call us and we will work out whether to send it again or refund it.
